UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah’s Journalism Club recently collaborated with the Mass Communication Department to bring in alumni to share with MCM students their experiences of working in the journalism industry.
MCM alumni recounted experiences at news organizations including The National, CNN, Arab News, Gulf News, Gulf Today, Seven Days and Khaleej Times, and in some cases discussed moving from journalism into public relations.
Club President Hala Nasar said starting the club was an important initiative for the department because it helps raise awareness and encourages students to stay connected to the world by keeping up with the latest news.
She said it currently has about 45 members.
“Students are excited about joining the club. They want to know more about journalism,” she said.
Nasar said the club will host a movie night soon.
