SHARJAH — Promoting awareness, wellness and empowerment in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the American University of Sharjah hosted its annual Pinktober event on Oct. 16.

The event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and featured a range of activities, including fundraising booths and vendors at the CHM and HSB Rotundas, awareness talks in the Main Building’s Lecture Hall B and performing arts exhibits followed by a Pilates for Wellness session in the Arts building.

“Pinktober wasn’t just about fundraising, it was about reminding everyone to prioritize their health,” said Suprabha Vauvegula, a second-semester sophomore. “It made me realize how awareness events can empower people to take action.”

Local vendors and sponsors such as Linked, Fruffles, Sugarballs, Snow Moon, Sukar and Labatec participated in the event, contributing to fundraising efforts and campus engagement.

“The participation of both students and vendors highlights the community’s shared effort to promote awareness,” said Janhvi Duggal, CAS student team activities coordinator.

The Pinktober initiative is part of AUS’s broader commitment to promoting health education and community involvement.
