UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – Fog conditions across the UAE Monday prompted an alert to  American University of Sharjah students.

The early morning email from the Office of Safety and Crisis Management noted the conditions were especially likely to affect travel in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

It advised commuters to leave early and drive carefully, and those on campus to exercise care especially with e-scooters and bicycles until visibility improved.

“The fog wasn’t too bad up close,” student Lara Deeya Mudallal, who drove from Dubai, said of Monday’s commute. “The problem was the sight from far away.”

The travel conditions made her, like many others, arrive late for class. Another Monday email asked faculty to show leniency to late-arriving students that day.
