UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah announced Tuesday that its research and graduate studies programs will be consolidated under a single office.

Provost Dr. Juan Sanchez wrote in an email to faculty that the Office of Research and Graduate Studies will function under the Office of the Provost, effective July 1. He announced that Dr. Mohamed El-Tarhuni, vice provost for research and graduate studies, will lead ORGS.

He added that this department will handle all internal and external research grant actions, intellectual property and technology transfers, and Institutional Review Board operations, while also providing oversight and governance for graduate programs.

Sanchez wrote that the deans will still manage all business functions related to research grants and contracts, following standard university procedure.

He added that with this new arrangement, AUS will continue to foster the growth of intellectual capital through strategic investment in research, scholarly activities, and graduate studies.
