Sharjah, UAE: A security officer and a student at the Mass Communication Department at the American University of Sharjah said during an interview on Oct.19 that they prefer the reduced COVID-19 rules.
Shahd Elsokary, an MCM student said, “I used to get up two hours before class since I knew 20 minutes would be spent in line. With the new rules, I now use that time to have breakfast instead.”
Elsokary dreaded the long wait outside buildings, especially in the hot weather.
Most of the time the reason she was late to classes was because of finding a mask and waiting in line to show her green Al-Hosn pass.
Emad Saeed, the head of AUS security, said, “without Covid regulations our lives are easier, there was no mental stress, a happier life. Covid brought too much stress.”
Saeed preferred his job responsibilities before Covid.
The biggest problem he faced was students trying to escape showing Al-Hosn so that they are not late to class.
He had to run after students to ensure he did his job well.
