SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates – American University of Sharjah’s security office is asking community members to help decrease the nuisance caused by feral dogs on campus.

In a recent email, AUS Security asked campus residents to avoid placing food for cats outside the university-designated feeding areas, to prevent attracting wild dogs. The security office also asked community members to call 050-626-7878 if they spot a wild dog.

The designated cat-feeding locations are part of an ongoing trap-neuter-release (TNR) program meant to reduce the campus feline population.

According to the email, University City personnel are attempting to capture the dogs that have appeared on campus. Sharjah’s Cat & Dog Shelter is also cooperating with the university.
