SHARJAH – The Performing Arts Program at the American University of Sharjah has announced their upcoming performances of the Soirée Musicale and The Comedy of Errors have not been cancelled, although the latter’s opening night has been delayed and its number of performances reduced.

The department head, Prof. Anthony Tassa, said that “the show must go on.”

Tassa also said that the department trusts that “students will rehearse at home.” He added, “it’s the only thing we can do, we would have two weeks left for opening night after the big break” referring to the one month break.

Pianopalooza, another event hosted by the Performing Arts Program, was cancelled on the day of the event; it was originally assumed the other program events would follow suit.

The Soirée Musicale will showcase performances from the AUS Choir, the AUS Women’s Choir and selected performances by AUS vocal and piano students. The event’s opening night is April 30.

The Comedy of Errors will run on April 9-10, its dates pushed back and reduced from its original planned run of April 6-10. The play is a Shakespearean classic about two brothers who go in search of their identical twins. When they unknowingly wind up in the same city as their doppelgangers, a mayhem of mistaken identities ensues.
