UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — In collaboration with Emirates Health Services, the American University of Sharjah announced Sept. 12 that a Flu Vaccination Campaign will begin Sept. 14.

The Flu Vaccination Campaign will run until March, and is free of charge for students, faculty, and staff.

To register, students and employees must fill out the Vaccine Request Form online; they can then book an appointment via a link sent by email from the University Health Services.

The vaccination is recommended for anyone over the age of six months. Groups who will especially benefit from taking the vaccine are children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with chronic diseases, according to an email from the AUS Health Services Team.

The team noted that infants and those with severe egg allergies or a history of Guillain Barre Syndrome should not take the vaccine.

Only one dose is needed; recipients may experience pain at the injection site, the email noted.
